Not as Bad as People Are Saying

Review Date: April 15, 2010

While, it's true that there are some very elementary errors in this book, the concepts it covers and the explanations are spot on as far as topics are concerned. While you do want to double check your answers against the explanation to make sure that Kaplan didn't make an error, this book provides a very challenging and great review for concepts some may have long forgotten. The book is not perfect, but it will guide you in learning (or relearning) very important concepts and problem types and show you how to tackle them effectively. I'm more confident in my ability and definitely more prepared to get very close to (if not achieve) that perfect score after having used this book, and that's the bottom line that matters.
Worth it

I bought this book because I wanted to do really well on the Quantitative section of the GRE. I found that it prepared me very well. The only down-side is that I found an error. I guess that just helped me be on my toes :). Besides that everything was great.

I raised my score from a 670 to a 770 with the help of this book. Probably more from practice than from the book but I couldn't have done much practice without all of the questions provided :).
Mistakes: Yes, Overall: Not bad.

There are quite a few errors (8 or 10) in this book but the book isn't all bad if you use it as a supplement. Kaplan gets an F for their editing. Some of their questions are quite imaginative and if you're looking for extra practice and you can afford to buy this book, it wouldn't hurt. The only two books you need are Barron's GRE and Nova's Math Bible.
Great book! Many dumb publishing mistakes but worth every penny

This is the only book I could find aimed at preparing advanced test takers. So if you want that 800 this is the only option. The math is not something from another planet, but the complete review of difficult math concepts and questions is valuable. The author makes a good move when including problems that you could probably solve but most likely not, and it forces you to go back and review the strategy. The only things I found irritating were the minor mistakes made in some answer choices and the solutions key. I wont cry to much about it because not finding the right answer after checking my math twenty times, made me dig further and solidify some important skills.

The book's light tone makes it less of a burden to read; and honestly I found it somewhat motivating.

If you want to polish those math skills before the test, get it.
Good Practice, Frustrating Typos

Nice source of extra practice - but with several typos. Be prepared to question the questions (and the answers) after a few attempts. All the supplementary material is the same as that from the general GRE practice book.
