Product Description |
| The goal of this book is to maximize performance on the Verbal Reasoning (VR) section of the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). Each year, thousands of examinees face the possibility of disastrous results on this section of the test. This book guides you to transform those struggles into successes. First, it analyzes VR passages and question types with an emphasis on strategies for handling them effectively. Second, it discusses poor reading habits and presents methods for overcoming them. Third, the book offers extensive methods for improving reading comprehension by introducing new reading exercises and techniques. Fourth, it lays out a training timeline with suggested MCAT-quality books and journals as practice material. MCAT Verbal Reasoning Mastery seeks to give you every help possible to discover a level of reading proficiency that you may have never reached before. It will show you how to realize various levels of meaning that the written word contains. You will practice techniques that improve reading memory by employing a new system of learning called Neuro-Visual Programming, which can serve you well for the rest of your life. Also addressed in this book are the false assumptions that unfortunately deter examinees from reaching their full potential. Furthermore, you will find a series of interviews with top performing students who have achieved scores of 11 or better on Verbal Reasoning. Their advice will prove extremely useful to anyone seeking success on this very difficult section of the MCAT. Finally, you will find at the end of the book, 150 pages of exercises aimed at improving visual memory, reading memory, reading speed, and comprehension. As you complete the journey of Verbal Reasoning mastery, you will hopefully develop excellent memory, critical thinking, reading mechanics, and focus. By mastering these abilities you will realize a higher aptitude for reading and writing, a thorough command of which are indispensable to medical professionals. |

Unhappy with your verbal score?
|

| Reviewer: K. Glass, |
Most MCAT verbal resources I've encountered simply breakdown the passage and question types and they fall short of offering any concrete techniques that will help you improve your score.
In order to succeed at the verbal section of the MCAT you have improve your reading skills. This book with its thorough and innovative plan will help you do this.
I consistently scored 9 on the verbal section of practice tests and I was unsatisfied with my score, knowing that a great verbal score can really help your application. Using the techniques in this book I scored an 11 on test day!
If your verbal score is the only thing standing in your way to submitting a confident medical school application then this book is an incredibly valuable tool. |
Great book, but make sure you get this book 8 months before taking MCAT

This is the first book, that gave a great in depth analysis of the MCAT verbal reasoning and had excellent suggestions. However, there is an 8 month reading program outlined in the book, and I bought it 2 months before I took my MCAT test. I'm still practicing a lot, but I wish I had the full 8 months to really prepare.

| I studied a lot of verbal books for the mcat. This is the one. It's like having a private tutor at home because it goes over personal problems you have on the mcat verbal. It trains your mind how to think and RELEARN how to read passages. The reading schedule it has is very useful and the advice it gives is based on solid experience that works. I give this an A+ and I recommend it to anyone who wants boost their verbal score up by at LEAST 4 points. |
English is my second language

So I bought this book a while ago and went through it thoroughly. English is my second language. I took the MCAT and got a pretty good VR score thanks to this book. As I said in my old review, I was waiting for something like this for a really really long time because nothing out there helped me at helping Verbal Reasoning. I took Kaplan and Princeton courses and my VR didn't budge... I was getting 7s which was awful. I read this book and did the exercises at the back and my score slowly increased to 10s and even 11 on my practice tests.
You should know that the exercises are left field but IMHO actually pretty darn effective. One section makes you memorize symbols, another is for speed reading, another is summarizing paragraphs, etc... it makes me comprehend a lot better on the MCAT and answer a lot more correct.
This verbal book is totally different than anything I've ever seen for MCAT VR prep. Finally something that worked for second language English speaker. Thank you! |
Good stuff.

| This book is better then any other VR book out in the market. I have princeton review and examcracker. The other two just teaches you short cuts to the verbal section. This is the only one that actually teaches you to be a better reader. Highly recommend. However, you need to devote 8 months to your improve your reading comprehension if you are going to use this book. |
