| For students whose
work, athletic or family schedules preclude them from taking
a course,
students with specific academic needs, ESL students, or students
desiring a different approach, LTES tutors can offer one-on-one,
in home test preparation for the SAT. Some tutors may also be
able to arrange daytime courses for home-schoolers (minimum 3/group),
and courses for student groups outside Howard County. Subject
to
instructor availability, individualized preparation is also available
for the following: SAT II (Writing and Math), Vocabulary Enrichment,
AP (Biology, Spanish language, Calculus AB, English Language
and
Composition), CLEP (English Composition, College Mathematics, Calculus
with Elementary Functions, College Algebra), Praxis I (Math and/or
Verbal). |
| Because there are
too many factors beyond its control that impact testing and test-taking,
neither LTES nor its referral tutors guarantee student scores on
any of the standardized tests and does not recommend companies who
do so. LTES and its referral tutors encourage students to begin
preparing early and support the position that in addition to covering
test strategies and skills, the best preparation is a solid grounding
in the core subjects of math and English. LTES and its referral
tutors further believe that success on standardized tests is enhanced
by taking rigorous academic programs in middle and high school and
by reading challenging material as often as possible.
